Foundation’s goal
The Foundation was created with the intent of improving health care and medical services due to the increasing need of surgical procedures performed in Day Surgery.
The Day Surgery (daytime hospitalization or one night hospitalization at most) descendant of the already well-established Day Hospital, represents the latest most innovative project in terms of surgical activity.
All the surgical specialties can include part of their surgical procedures in the Day Surgery system.
Despite all the evident advantages, the Italian public hospital facilities are not always equipped with such units yet, because of economic and organizational reasons.
About 60% of the medical procedure requests, that are usually treated by the regular hospital system, could be treated by the Day Surgery system.
The creation of this type of structure, dedicated, departmental and multi-disciplinary could solve at least part of this problem.
